NASA StreaM Privacy Policy

NASA StreaM is a read-oriented aggregation experience that brings together publicly available NASA and NASA-adjacent updates, imagery, videos, and metadata into one stream. This policy explains what information the site uses, what it does not do, and how we handle analytics, media, and external links.

1) Information we collect

  • Basic technical data: standard server logs such as IP address, browser, device type, referring page, and timestamps.
  • Usage data: page views, filter selections, and interaction signals used to keep the NASA StreaM experience stable and useful.
  • No personal profile is required: you can browse the site without creating a NASA StreaM account.

2) NASA source content

  • NASA StreaM aggregates publicly available content from NASA RSS feeds, NASA APIs, the NASA Image and Video Library, Photojournal pages, and related public NASA pages.
  • Article text, images, captions, and downloadable assets may be displayed in normalized form to improve browsing and discovery.
  • Original source links remain available so you can view the content on the NASA or source site directly.

3) How we use data

  • Operate the feed, detail pages, filters, media playback, and deduped bundle/gallery views.
  • Improve performance, detect broken feeds or media, and troubleshoot upstream source failures.
  • Protect the service against abuse, scraping spikes, or operational issues.

4) Cookies and local storage

  • The site may use cookies or local/session storage required by the broader platform for session handling, login modals, and UI preferences.
  • NASA StreaM itself is primarily read-only and does not require a signed-in session to browse public feed content.

5) External media and links

  • Videos, images, downloads, and source pages may load from NASA-controlled domains or other public source hosts.
  • When you open an original source or download asset, you leave the NASA StreaM experience and become subject to the destination site’s policies.

6) Sharing

  • We do not sell personal information.

7) Retention

  • Operational logs and analytics are retained only as long as reasonably needed for reliability, security, and maintenance.
